Toy Recall Information
A message from the founders about toy safety.
Dear Customers,
At eBeanstalk we are dedicated to a child’s development and learning, and we never compromise a child’s safety. Rest assured that NONE of the recalled toys from Mattel or Fisher Price have ever been sold at eBeanstalk. NOT ONE.
We as retailers must be advocates for our customers and not solely rely on the manufacturers. First, we are working with all of our manufactures to ensure all safety steps have been made in the manufacturing process. If we are not satisfied, we remove the manufacturer from our site.
Second, we lead-test the toys ourselves. And third, we are offering free lead testing of any toy from any retailer that is brought into our store.
We recognize the seriousness of parents' concerns, and we never compromise when it comes to a child's safety.
Thank you for visiting eBeanstalk. If you have any other questions or comments, please call us at our toll free number.

Statements from Manufacturers:
Guidecraft: all of our products are ran through the ASTM Certification process twice per year, it just recently being done and all our products passed. We also spot test randomly throughout the year when we have people going over to our manufacturing facilities.
Melissa & Doug: Please be assured, we test for lead VERY frequently. It's quite possible to make great quality children's items in China, which meet all safety regulations, but the key point is that you have to test and inspect very frequently to be sure that your factories are always following your instructions explicitly. I assure you that's exactly what we do.
From our experience, the key to doing this correctly is not simply to insist that your factories follow your instructions, but then to go one step further and to AUDIT, INSPECT, AND TEST very frequently. That is the most important part of the process, and it's something our company has always taken VERY seriously.
Gund: Dear Brian, Thank you for contacting Gund, America’s oldest soft-toy manufacturer. Gund has been a manufacturer and designer of the highest quality plush for over 100 years. As a company, Gund has always been dedicated to ensuring the safety of our products. All Gund products are in accordance with the established manufacturers quality standards established Federal Safety Regulations. Thank you for your interest in Gund. Sincerely, Kristen Hummer Manager Consumer Services
Manhattan Toy: Manhattan Toy understands the concerns parents have after the recent toy recalls announced by major US toy manufacturers. We are committed to providing quality toys and products that enrich young lives and developing minds. Safety has always been a focus at Manhattan Toy.
Our toys are designed, developed, and manufactured with every child’s safety in mind. Manhattan Toy ensures that each of its products comply with federal toy safety standards of the US and Europe. Our products are manufactured to meet or exceed all applicable regulatory standards as well as voluntary safety standards. Our toys meet the requirements put forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the European Union (EN71), as well as additional safety tests when applicable. These requirements include checking for the presence of lead in our toys. We further ensure testing integrity by using only third party, independent accredited toy testing laboratories.
Manhattan Toy will continue to make safety our priority when designing and manufacturing toys. All of our products are designed to meet or exceed the standards set forth by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). For more information, please visit the Toy Industry Association website at ww.toy-tia.org or the American Society for Testing and Materials at www.ASTM.org.
- Magnets: Manhattan Toy has developed toys which include magnets. Every precaution is exercised in the design and development of these items to ensure that the magnets do not separate from the toy and present a danger to children. When magnets are used in our toys, they are enclosed in a fabric pouch which is sewn shut. The closed pouch is then sewn to the inside of the toy to prevent it from coming loose. In addition, our magnets are only used in toys that are too large to be swallowed by children.
- Lead: Recently, lead has been found in some children’s products including jewelry and painted items. Every product designed by Manhattan Toy is tested to ASTM and EN71 regulations before it is released to the market. These regulations include testing for lead content. All of our toys meet or exceed the requirements of all US and European regulatory bodies.
- General Testing: Manhattan Toy tests every product design before it is introduced to the market place. We regularly retest each design. These comprehensive testing procedures address every attribute of toy safety including physical and mechanical testing (use and abuse) as well as toxic elements and flammability. These tests check for the presence of lead, phthalates, small parts, sharp edges, and many more potential hazards.
